Sag Harbor Contemporary

A former client asked us to design a summer contemporary home for them in Sag Harbor. The goals were to a open floor plan home with crisp volumes, expansive glass and warm exterior materials. Set in a residential neighborhood, we chose to place the house set back from the street with the driveway leading to the front motorcourt, de-emphasizing the garage. Using garden walls and non-linear walkways we provided an interesting walkable approach from the motor court to the front door. Approaching the door, an overhang greets the visitor. The “floating” staircase is visible through the full height glass to the right of the door. As one enters the door, the front to back openness of the floor plan is visible. The kitchen in the back to the right, dining in the middle and a large family room with fireplace is to the left. Sliding doors and floor to ceiling glass surrounds the space and takes one to the exterior porch and terrace. Beyond is a pool with privacy wall. Construction set to start early 2022.
