Our clients' home had a multi level fairly unusable deck that was in poor condition. They asked us to design a new one level deck along with a screened in porch so that their family could enjoy living outside in the good weather. We filled in the space between the main volume of the house and two wings and made space for a large dining table in front of an outdoor fireplace and a large area for sofas and chairs. There is also a smaller portion of deck to house the grill and children's hang out area. The crowing jewel of this project is the screened in porch with its see-through fireplace. A fire can be built for friends and family to enjoy from within the porch and also outside when having dinner at the table on the deck. The porch was built using cedar rafters, walls and exposed cedar v-groove boards between the rafters. Ipe decking was used for all the deck surfaces. Stainless steel cable railing system with a cedar top rail completes the project.
