A client with a passion for films asked us to design a rich, elegantly appointed home theater in their basement. A portal of bird’s eye maple with a thickly padded leather door marks the entrance of this theater. Within the theater, we used darkly stained wood, oil rubbed bronze reveals, and fabric paneled walls and cranberry colored velvet drapes across the screen. Espresso colored leather theater seats offer luxurious comfort for viewing.

What better way to compliment the movie experience than to include a new wet bar? Our schema for this wet bar was to play up the movie theater ambiance but in an updated, sleek and contemporary design. Within a narrow hallway in an area of the house without any natural light, we wanted to use light colored materials that reflected light well.

We chose bird’s eye maple for the base cabinet wood veneer material and stainless steel to wrap the frames of the glass upper cabinets. Concealed LED lighting was designed within the ceiling of the hall and the upper cabinet ceiling. An LED strip light was installed up and behind the satin etched mirror back splash to reflect and bounce light onto the counter. We installed a stainless steel undermount sink and a nickel faucet at the black granite counter. Sub-Zero UC-24R under counter refrigerator, Sub-Zero UC-15I under counter ice maker, and stainless steel microwave for making popcorn complete the unit.
