“Small can be very beautiful”

2300 square feet

The clients desired a small, stylish home built with many sustainable products. The heated area for the home was kept to only 2300 square feet, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Specifically, our clients wanted a home that, despite its efficient use of limited space and materials, still exuded a sense of drama, beauty, and “lived art.”

Key Design Features:

To create an elegant, yet functional home, we designed one large public space that could be flexible in use. Several different ceiling shapes define this great room, which differentiate the room’s varied uses. The focal point of the great room is the fireplace, treated as a sculpture element, around which people can relax, entertain, study, cook or dine.

To create the essence of “lived art”, we designed jewel-like details to be executed with high quality, sustainable materials. This home offers a vision of what future houses can offer discriminating clients who demand extremely high quality while respecting the constraints imposed by increasingly limited space, more costly materials, and the need to built with sustainable resources.
